This is a full-time remote position. The role involves identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, building and maintaining intermediary relationships, developing strategic plans, and managing sales processes.
As Business Development Manager, your key accountabilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Work closely with the Intermediary Sales Director to develop and implement strategies that grow the company’s market share within the specialist lending sector, ensuring that business development activities align with the company’s strategic objectives.
• Provide guidance and support to brokers and packagers to optimise their performance.
• Host and participate in workshops, webinars, and networking events to promote the company’s services and expertise.
• Build and nurture relationships with brokers, packagers, and key industry stakeholders.
• Represent the company at industry events, associations, and community engagements to enhance visibility and credibility.
• Work with the Underwriting team to provide feedback and contribute to the credit risk appetite process
• Identify new business opportunities and develop innovative approaches to meet market needs.
• Mentor and develop junior staff members, fostering a culture of collaboration.
• Maintain accurate partner records in the CRM system.
Skills and experience:
• 3+ years of experience in specialist lending distribution, preferably in a business development role, with exposure to both regulated and non-regulated lending.
• Proven experience in business development, sales, and/or intermediary relationship management.
• Strong understanding of products, lenders, and the competitive landscape.
• Lender criteria and affordability: deep understanding of lender policies, risk appetite, and affordability assessments.
• Ability to influence and align colleagues to drive results, and to build trusting, collaborative relationships across the business.
• Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to challenge supportively and effectively where appropriate.
• Exceptional time management skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently in a remote environment.
