Head of Credit

(Fractional/ Part-Time / Ad-hoc/ Consultancy)

Specialist Property Finance Lender,| London



KFS Recruitment is working exclusively with an embryonic specialised property finance lender, focusing on the property rental income space.

This is a fractional role initially, open to either a consultant arrangement or a permanent part-time appointment, with potential progression to Board-Level as the business scales.

This role will suit a senior lending professional who can 'own' the credit function, getting credit policies and general governance standards to the level of institutional readiness, in preparation for a launch date of cQ2.



You will be instrumental in:

Articulating a disruptive value proposition to landlords and brokers who are underserved by traditional BTL and bridging products.
Writing lending criteria and credit policy from scratch
Assessing risk appetite and aligning it with internal lending criteria across loan sizes between £15,000 and £1,000,000
Leading and participating in credit committee meetings
Engaging confidently with stakeholders and funding institutions
Reviewing UK lending strategies and competitor products, positioning this lender effectively within the market
Managing one underwriter initially, with responsibility for building and scaling the credit team during the lender’s growth phase
Supporting the business through its early evolution, with a clear route to board-level involvement


The Ideal Candidate

You’ll bring 5+ years of hands-on experience in Bridging or Buy-to-Let underwriting, ideally having operated with mandate and helped shape credit decisions in a growing lender
Proven experience writing lending policies and operating within an embryonic or scaling brand
Strong commercial judgement with the gravitas to represent the business externally
Excited about disruption/ innovation and keen to mark their mark on the industry
Comfortable working from London office
Strategic, pragmatic, and confident operating in a developing credit environment
Experience of working with small, agile companies, where idea contribution is welcomed and visions are valued.
