Portfolio Manager – Development Finance (Leeds)

We’re looking for an experienced, detail‑driven Portfolio Manager to join our Development Finance team. This role is central to supporting SME housebuilders across the UK through hands‑on portfolio oversight, strong credit stewardship and proactive relationship management.
You’ll work closely with Lending Directors, Relationship Managers, borrowers and professional partners to monitor development projects, identify risks early, and ensure facilities progress in line with approved budgets, timelines and sales strategies. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about property development finance and keen to play a key role in enabling the delivery of homes across the UK.

Responsibilities

Portfolio Oversight & Credit Stewardship
Monitor loan expiries, interest tranches, construction milestones and sales progress.
Conduct site inspections to assess build progress, quality, budgets and schedules.
Liaise with Quantity Surveyors, borrowers and construction teams.
Review cashflows and variances against approved models to identify early risks.
Support restructuring recommendations and prepare credit papers and memos.
Risk Monitoring & Reporting
Complete monthly time delay and cost overrun analysis.
Monitor unit sales and identify slow sales or undervalue risks early.
Collaboration & Relationship Management
Support Lending Directors, Relationship Managers and Credit teams.
Build strong relationships with borrowers and professional partners.
Input into departmental portfolio overviews and annual credit reviews.

What We’re Looking For
Strong experience in property lending or development finance
Excellent relationship‑building skills with borrowers and professional partners
Strong analytical capability and attention to detail
Understanding of residential development finance
Basic understanding of construction (desirable, not essential)
Good awareness of UK property market trends
Ability to travel for site visits
Excellent communication skills
Experience with Phoebus, Keystone or Tableau is beneficial
